Two lives claimed at Cubana shooting in Stellenbosch this weekend
The nightclub security war made its way to Stellenbosch as two people were killed after a Cubana shooting.
After a few months of ‘’peace,’ the nightclub security war is seemingly still at play.
After incidents at clubs in Camps Bay and the CBD, the war has made its way to the student town, Stellenbosch.
It is reported that the shooting happened shortly after midnight on Saturday morning, at popular nightclub, Cubana.
Two victims were shot dead, with another in hospital seeking treatment for injuries.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC Van Wyk, confirmed that two people, a 30-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were fatally wounded.
The woman, Nicole Muller, wife and mother of two was attending a 30th birthday party when she became a casualty.
Captain Van Wyk says that although no arrests have been made, two cases of murder and a case of attempted murder are being investigated.
From protectors to perpetrators
According to Phaks Photh’inja, a witness, two men entered the club, chasing someone towards the bathroom while shooting into the crowd.
Another eyewitness said that two men fled the scene after the shooting, and were seen getting into a black Citi Golf with a CY number plate.
Chairperson of the Stellenbosch University SRC, Lwando Nkamisa, called out to students affected by the Cubana shooting to seek counseling.
“The students who witnessed this violence please come to our offices in the Neelsie top floor if you need someone to talk to, or visit the Counselling Unit in Victoria street or call 082 557 0880 if you need a professional to talk to,” he posted.
The hawks are heading a major investigation into underworlds violence.
The Cubana shooting will surely rock the student town.
