Nightclub Security battle in Cape Town claims first life
The ongoing nightclub security battle in Cape Town that we reported about in November 2016 has intensified and has now claimed its first victim according to reports on News24.
45 year old, Shamiel Eyssen was shot dead in Bishop Lavis on Saturday afternoon around 3 PM. He was the leader of the Fancy Boys gang and had been convicted before, under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
News24 claims that this shooting was related to the nightclub security battle that has gripped Cape Town as various factions fight over the lucrative industry.
The media channel reports further that a new faction, headed by three men, of which one is involved with international organised crime, are trying to muscle in on another faction that has dominated the local Cape club scene for a long time.
The impact of the nightclub security battle
As the nightclub security battle intensifies it is claimed that the new faction is sending groups of men into the city to disrupt venues and challenge the club security.
News24 says that this past weekend the city centre was targeted on Friday and Saturday night and the Table View area in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The world of entertainment and nightclubbing has often been tainted by seedy elements and this is probably why more and more people turn to outdoor festival gatherings.
Reading this report you may not really care for the loss of ‘just another gangster’ but to be honest a nightclub security battle like this will eventually impact on patrons at venues all over the mother city.
The methods used are pretty rudimentary; send in a bunch of ‘skollies‘ to antagonise patrons, forcing the security to get involved and then try and make the bouncers look inadequate at their jobs. Then approach the owner and sell a ‘better security solution.‘
The losers of course are the party people who just want to have a good time and boogie to some cool tunes plus DJs, promoters, bar staff and everybody else that works in the indsutry.
