SAMA 2017 – All the winners

SAMA 2017 took place this past weekend [26 – 28 May 2017] and saw the return of the awards show to Sun City after trying a few less than successful alternative venues for a couple of years.

Kwesta was the biggest winner on the night with the most awards which included two biggies; Best Male Artist of the Year and Best Album of the Year. He also won Samro Highest Airplay of the Year, SAMPRA highest Airplay of the Year and Best Rap Album.

Nasty C had the last laugh at SAMA 2017 after facing a deluge of detractors after two of his videos originally included in the best video category were disqualified – he walked away with the biggest award of them all – Record of the Year.

The significance of Record of the Year is that this is the ONLY award that is bases solely on public votes as opposed to the judges selecting this winner.

Black Motion deservedly won Best Dance album for their latest release Ya Badimo. The album has recently been released globally by Sony, boding well for the dance music duo to break into the international scene.

The duo is also on the prestigious lineup for Black Coffee’s latest summer residency in Ibiza at ‘Hi Ibiza’ which should further cement ambitions to reach a global audience.
