Black Motion partners with Ballantine’s Whisky
Black Motion aka Thabo Mabogwane and Bongani Mohosana have partnered with Ballantine’s whisky.
Ballantine’s has previously also supported other artists such as Black Coffee. They also hosted Boiler Room ‘Stay True South Africa’ in last year where Move D, Henrik Schwarz, Fred P, Jullian Gomes, Jazzuelle, Fosta, and Kid Fonque played.
“The music leads first. It’s not about celebrity, when the sound changes, we don’t follow. We keep on doing our music our way and pushing it. We want to be taken seriously as artists, and staying true to our sound and our art is key to that.” says Thabo of Black Motion
About Black Motion
Black Motion is known for coming up with unconventional sounds. When they perform they combine the quality of live instruments while DJ-ing such as African and Latin drums. They have also been nominated for a Wawela Music Awards (Best Duo or Group) and a South African of the Year (SATY) Award (Music Artist of the Year).
Black Motion has already released three albums. Their ‘Fortune Teller’ album out in 2014 made it to gold status a mere month after its release. The same album also won a SAMA for Best Dance Album last year. Their sets are thoroughly enjoyed by anyone in attendance and their reputation for stellar performances has spread far and wide, which are also complimented by dance routines that the duo adds for extra organic flair. This gives the audience the impression that they have a genuine enjoyment of the music.
They are also into fashion and put as much effort into what they are wearing as they do their performances.
The Black Motion and Ballantine’s partnership will unfold over a year. The kick off for the collaboration starts with an extensive ad campaign throughout all media outlets such as TV, radio, print, and online.
Also, events in support of this partnership will follow too.
