Watch this Juicy M – 4 iPads Mix
This Juicy M – 4 iPads Mix follows on from her original 4 CDJ video mix that went viral on YouTube a year ago.
The Ukrainian DJ now based in LA was predictably lambasted by the male-dominated DJ industry for ‘faking her mixes’ or ‘using sync buttons’ or ‘mixing without headphones,’ among other bits of nonsense.
In fact it got so bad that some even took her video and reposted it adding their own ‘expert opinion.’
Anyway she certainly had the last laugh as she has since performed on some of the biggest EDM bills over the past year including Ultra South 2016 just months after her debut performance in South Africa at Shimmy Beach Club. She’s also opened for pop stars like Black Eyed Peas etc. You can read our exclusive interview with her from a few months ago.

Now she is back with the Juicy M – 4 iPads Mix and whilst it may not appear quite as impressive as a 4 CDJ mix – mainly because the CDJs look more professional – it’s still a cute display of how one can actually use iPads and an app like djay 2 to mix professionally.
Conventionally most people would use just one iPad to mix two tracks together but in this Juicy M – 4 iPads Mix she shows us how to use each iPad like a dedicated CDJ. At the end of the day the main job of the CDJ is to play back the music, so it’s kind of a no brainer that an iPad with Dj software could do the same.
If you’re an experienced DJ then this is not exactly rocket science what Juicy M is doing, but nonetheless she had the foresight to demo it and it’s pretty darn cool.
But did she sync them or not? We’d love to see what DJs are going to say about this because she once again does not use headphones, although she does appear to adjust the tempo on tracks but does not seem to have to nudge tracks into sync so who actually knows? No doubt the trolls will be out to criticise this soon enough.
But who cares? It’s still a cool reminder of the power of digital gear these days.
In fact rocking up with a couple of iPads (comparatively cheaper than CDJs) could be kinda cool, since they are light, can host all your music and would be quite simple to plug in and get going.
