Latest Serato DJ Pro update promises new hardware integration
Serato HQ just announced a public beta for the latest Serato DJ Pro update – the version 2.1.1 software update.
The latest Serato DJ Pro update sees a number of exciting new features from new hardware connectivity to a variety of new additions to the Official Serato Accessory line-up. The biggest feature in the new update is the introduction of the Roland TR-Sync system, which allows you to sync the tempos between Serato DJ Pro and any compatible Roland drum machine that’s plugged into your computer. Now you can seamlessly layer percussion loops from various drum machines such as Roland TR-8S, TR-8, TR-08 and TR-09 over your current mix in Serato DJ Pro.
This is a great addition for Serato DJ Pro users who have a newer Roland drum machine, however I wish they would just add standard MIDI capabilities, and open up the boundaries to gear from any manufacturer – we may have to wait for a future update for that…
Custom mapping capabilities in latest Serato DJ Pro update?
Another huge feature in the upcoming Serato DJ Pro update is the ability to remap the controls of Official Serato Accessories – finally allowing you to create your own custom mappings that suit the way you perform. I still wonder why they don’t just open the platform to MIDI, this would allow anyone to create their own mappings with any hardware – in turn creating more potential Serato users, but hey, that’s anybody’s guess.
The new Reloop RP-8000mk2 has also been added to the list of Official Serato Accessories, so you can take full advantage of the cue-points, note mode and other various digital DJ oriented features on the turntable. We recently covered the launch of the Reloop RP-8000mk2, check that out here.
