New DJ Conversion Utility Streaming converts metadata on tracks from streaming services
The DJ Conversion Utility Streaming (DJCU/S) app is created by a company called And The Groove Remains.
The have been quietly creating DJ library utilities that enable you to seamlessly transfer your music library from one music library to next, such as Engine Prime to rekordbox for example.
Their latest utility, DJ Conversion Utility Streaming, converts metadata for tracks from streaming services between DJ software.
For example: you can set cues and loops for Tidal tracks on your iPhone version of djay AI and convert these, using DJCU/S, to a Denon Prime environment.
DJCU/S opens up mind-blowing possibilities.
DJCU/S initially offers supports for:
- Tidal
- beatsource LINK
- beatport LINK
DJCU/S allows conversion of metadata between:
- Rekordbox 6
- Serato
- Denon DJ Prime gear (from the Denon GO to the SC6000)
- Algoriddim’s djay AI (both on macOS and iOS)
- Virtual DJ
Simplicity rules
The conversion is as simple as 1-2-3:
- Specify your streaming service & audio quality
- Select your source DJ software
- Set your destination DJ software.
As a bonus, DJ Conversion Utility Streaming can convert to multiple destinations at once!
Share with your friends
One unique new feature of DJCU/S is it’s shareable archive, a file automatically created with each conversion.
It holds all conversion metadata.
You can share this file with your DJ friends if you like, giving them access to all the preparation work you did on those beatsource or Tidal tracks for next week’s back2back set.
All your friends need, is their own licensed version of DJCU/S plus a subscription to the same streaming service you used.
This feature also opens the way for artists who curate playlists on streaming services to share their grids, cues, loops and other metadata with DJs using those playlists.
Is it all good? Well, mostly!
Some DJ software exclusively shows metadata from the streaming service, ignoring the converted tags.
Others can use all the data from the conversion. All depending on the source and destination DJ software.
All DJCU/S supported DJ software converts the cues and loops.
Watch the YouTube tutorial to show you the specifics for each supported DJ software.
Sadly, all ATGR apps are macOS only.
DJCU/S works on El Capitan, all the way up to and including Big Sur.
There is only one exception. Due to the design choices Apple made, their new M1 computers are not (yet) supported.
So, if you have been waiting for a chance to fully integrate streaming services into your DJing workflow, while keeping all your loops, cues and such intact between the various DJ software you use, give DJCU/S a spin!
