Last week they announced some changes, not all of which were welcomed openly.

The Happy

Joburg ‘Ultranauts’ are happy – Ultras 2016 has now been bumped up to two days – both Friday and Saturday have been set aside – the demand up in Gauteng is clearly much greater than Cape Town which loses their Friday date.

The Not So Happy

Durbanites were a little peeved since they’ve not been allocated a date. Of course Durban is only a 3 and a ½ hour drive from Johannesburg so we expect quite a few to drive down for the event. It’s a smart move by the organisers, because there are no guarantees that Durban can pull 15,000 people. Or is there?

Putting two shows on in Joburg is bound to make it more appealing for our Durban friends to make the journey.

Capetonians were really pissed though and took to social media to express as much. Not only has Ultra 2016 been moved to a Sunday! The venue has also been moved to the River Club in Observatory. Not sure why it’s such a big deal. Sunday Funday is a natural past-time in Cape Town and the River Club is more central than ever.
