SoundCloud music sharing available for Instagram Stories
SoundCloud music sharing is coming to Instagram Stories.
SoundCloud is making serious moves now, partnering with myriad conglomerates to expand its reach.
This month alone it presented monetisation options to independent users, and also teamed up with DJ software companies to bring live streaming to the DJ arena.
Now SoundCloud is partnering up with Instagram, allowing users to share links to songs in the image-messaging app’s Stories feature.
Already running, the latest iOS and Android versions of SoundCloud have a “Share to Instagram Stories,” button. When users scroll upon the track you shared, all they must do is tap “play on SoundCloud” and they’ll be redirected to the app and listen.
This move allows recording artists to promote their music to a larger audience, while giving listeners the opportunity to more easily share music with friends, encouraging downloads.
This partnership has the potential to give SoundCloud a Stories reach of 400 million daily active users, who may or may not be familiar with the platform.
A Story of epic proportions
This feature shows great potential for both musical artists and advertisers as 50% of consumers buy a product online after seeing it on Stories and 31% buy it in-store, according to Instagram.
On another note, this integration means that creators will no longer need workarounds like posting screen grabs and SoundCloud links to the image-sharing network to promote their content.
Interestingly SoundCloud’s emphasis on creators has boosted the number of available tracks on its app to more than 177 million, compared to Spotify’s 40 million.
SoundCloud music sharing on Instagram Stories cements the platform as a major player in the music industry.
