Joseph Capriati smashes record for longest solo DJ set
Joseph Capriati smashed Dubfire’s record with a 27-hour-40-minute set length.
Give this man decks and he will spin them and spin them until all records are broken. Capriati is a master of marathon DJ sets, having just smashed the record for longest non-stop set at Sunwaves Festival in Romania.
It was less than a year ago that Dubfire broke the illustrious record for longest solo DJ set at Sunwaves- a festival that has become the go-to ‘marathon-set’ event for DJ titans to show off their endurance behind the decks- with a 26 hour and 30 minute set.
But now the title belongs to Capriati, who played a monster 27 hour and 40-minute set.
He expressed his gratitude on Twitter, saying:
Sunwaves have been life changing. Words cannot express the gratitude. It was a pure musical journey, a magical dream all together. 🙏🇷🇴

Marathon man
If you think this is a once-in-a-lifetime feat, think again. This offering marks Capriani’s own personal best marathon set, with another session at Heart Nightclub in Miami clocking in at 25 hours.
In an interview with Mixmag back in 2017 (after the Heart set), Capriati gives some tips on how to rock a marathon set, saying:
“One of the most important things is something I learnt especially from Marco Carola and it really gave me something else. It’s not actually a trick, it’s more more of a rule and believe it or not, it’s don’t mix too fast. You should leave the tracks going and enjoy the whole thing. Feel the track, don’t stress too much to search for music and don’t focus too much on the mix. It’s not a performance for one or two hours where you have to rock it out, it’s about saving the guest’s energy and keeping them going for the marathon. It’s a journey.”
For any of you looking to take on a marathon set, bear that in mind.
Congratulations on your record, Joseph Capriati, we know this won’t be the last time you marathon it up.
