Dubfire breaks record for longest solo DJ set at Sunwaves Festival
Dubfire brought the heat to Sunwaves Festival.
Especially known for endurance sessions, Sunwaves Festival took place in Romania from 15-21 August this year.
This makes Dubfire’s record-breaking 26.5 hour solo DJ set an impressive feat, knocking out former record-holder Marco Carola’s 24 hour set from the top spot.
As for duo sets, double hands make for more hours DJing, with tINI and Bill Patrick having played a mammoth 31 hour back-to-back Sunwaves set in 2016.
Imagine what it takes to DJ for so many hours, solo or back-to back? Djing, though exhilarating is also draining. It requires an immense amount of focus, crowd synchronicity, standing and surely a bit of anxiety.
*I’m referring to real DJing, not having an entire mix prepared and just pressing space bar, although even that would be draining.
Basically doing anything for so many hours is an impressive feat.
So if you are impressed with 26 or 31 hours, you’ll drop to the floor with DJ Colossus
Colossal set for Colossus
Trust the Guinness Book of World Records to take it to the stratosphere: The longest DJ set played consecutively was DJ Colossus, an American DJ who played for 232 hours…HAHA that is madness. It’s around 9 and a half DAYS.
He was allowed a 5-minute break after each hour completed in order to eat and regain his momentum.
The previous record went to Nigeria’s DJ Obi for his attempt of 229 hours and 58 minutes straight DJing.
Next I want to see someone DJ for a month straight.
The attempt from Dubfire is still an amazing feat, especially considering the pressures of playing in front of a MASSIVE crowd.
