Flume to headline Rocking the Daisies 2017
Flume has been announced as the top-billed international headliner for Rocking the Daisies 2017 and it certainly is the sign of the times when an electronic music producer gets top billing over a pop/rock band.
Recently he won Best Dance/Electronic Album for ‘Skin’ at the 2017 Grammy Awards, which follows eight ARIA Award-wins in his native Australia, including Album of the Year. ‘Skin’ includes the 2x Platinum-certified song “Never Be Like You” featuring Kai and the Platinum-certified single ‘Say It’ featuring Tove Lo. Since his 2012 breakout with the release of his self-titled debut, Flume has just grown and grown in popularity with feverish support from fans and critics alike, becoming one of the first artists to top 200 million Soundcloud streams and one of the world’s most popular on Spotify.
Our very own international superstar DJ, Black Coffee, is also on the lineup as well as Italian DJ/producer Sam Paganini and UK-based Patrick Topping.
SA hip hop stars Cassper Nyovest and Riky Rick will no doubt headline the hip hop stage alongside Snakehips; the duo have made a name for themselves with chart-topping remixes for Banks, The Weeknd, Bondax and Wild Belle. Joey Bada$$ is an American, independent hip-hop artist from Brooklyn, New York who will bring some authentic US flavour to the stage.
The Hip Hop stage was actually a big surprise last year. This was one of the new additions to Rocking the Daisies since new owners took over and it was a veritable success.
Other notable electronic acts announced include Sibot X Toyota – always a great live show, Felix Laband, The Kiffness, Timo ODV, PHFat, Grimehouse and it will be good to see Haezer once again.
They will once again feature one psytrance DJ, presumably to close the Electronic stage on the Sunday, and this year it’s our very own blogger, Tune Raider who writes for IDM Mag now and again. This is only the second time in the history of Rocking the Daisies that a psytrance DJ has featured.

On the pop music front Rocking the Daisies 2017 will feature Two Door Cinema Club, New Zealand indie band The Naked and Famous and African stalwart, jazz legend Ray Phiri.
Local stars Fokofpolisiekar, Beatenberg and Die Heuwels Fantasties will no doubt keep the live music fans happy too.
