How the Dropmix game for electronic music lovers works
We featured this Dropmix game before but now we’ve got a bit of a better understanding of how it actually works.
The crux of the game is that Dropmix allows players to blend popular songs and create ultimate mixes.
From the creators of Dance Central and Rock Band, Hasbro and Harmonix bring forth this new game for fans of DJing.
It consists of an interactive hardware board that lights up and plays sounds when you place your cards on the slots.
It comes with 60 cards featuring parts of songs from different genres, with more cards to be added- there are no limits really.
The cards feature songs from mainly commercial artists such as Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic, The Weekend’s hit ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’ and EDM hits like Skrillex’s ‘Bangarang’ and Afrojack’s ‘Take Over Control.’
Bells and whistles
Each player picks up to 5 cards all containing different elements of a song. The goal is to place it in an order that will result in a beautifully constructed mash-up mix.
Along with the hardware board you use the Dropmix app on a tablet or smartphone as the display for the game. The app is free for download on iOS and Google Play Store but of course it’s pretty useless without the board.
With music from a variety of artists and genres the outcome can only be fun. There’s even music from The Jackson 5, Evanescence, Fall Out Boy and Chainsmokers.
When you place a card on a Mix slot, the Board immediately plays the corresponding part of the song (bass, beat, loop or vocals) noted on the card.
It features multiple game modes which includes Clash Mode and party mode, allowing players to create unique mixes.
In Clash Mode, 2 teams battle each other to become masters of the mix.
Party Mode is all about fulfilling crowd music requests garnered from the Dropmix app.
The Dropmix game will be released in September 2017 retailing for $99.99 starting with 60 cards, with room to purchase more cards and create your perfect mix.
