DJ Maphorisa presents Gqom Wave, hitting international shores now.

On Friday, 17 November 2017, South African producer DJ Maphorisa released his Gqom Wave compilation and self-titled documentary on Apple Music.

This is a global first for South Africa, as we propel Gqom music past our own shores, as it enters international waters.

“I am thrilled to be at the forefront of a movement that will see Gqom become a global phenomenon. The documentary is intended to speak to a worldwide audience that is hungry for an authentic sound from the continent. On Gqom Wave I have tried to capture the hottest tracks in the scene right now with some up and coming producers that I believe will go far. ” said DJ Maphorisa.

South Africa has been looking forward to this release, and the time has come.

The compilation features a stellar line-up of some of the greatest names making waves in the Gqom scene right now along with up and coming producers, further propelling South African artists.

DJ Maphorisa has co-produced the latest smash hit single Midnight Starring with Rude Boyz and Distruction Boyz feat. DJ Tira, Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly – which is the lead single off GQOM WAVE that continues to make waves on radio and dominate club dancefloors.

The television premier of Gqom Wave can be viewed on Trace TV on 24 November 2017.

The show includes interview segments from DJ Maphorisa, DJ Tira, DJ Vumar, Distruction Boyz and other key players in the current Gqom scene, intercut with dance routines and feedback from dancers, producers and fans of Gqom.
