More tragedy at Boomtown Fair Music Festival this year
An eighteen year old woman has died at the Boomtown Fair Music Festival in Hampshire. This tragedy makes this victim the fourth person to have died at the event in the seven years that it has been going.
Two days ago we reported on the huge blaze that burned down eighty cars in the Boomtown Fair Music Festival parking lot. The fire was found to be accidental, having been caused by a lit cigarette. The bad news didn’t end there though; unfortunately another young person has lost her life.
This most recent victim was found unconscious in her tent at midday on Monday. Paramedics tried to resuscitate her with no success.
“Sadly, despite efforts from paramedics and the on-site doctor, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious but investigations are ongoing on behalf of the coroner. Officers continue to work closely with BoomTown organisers, and witnesses and friends who were at the event are being supported. Next of kin have been informed.” Said a Hampshire police spokesperson
A festival plagued by deaths
Other deaths that have taken place at the festival have all been connected with drug abuse. The police presence at the Boomtown Fair Music Festival has been growing at the event as a result.
The police have seized as much as £79,000 worth of drugs at this year’s festival. £55,000 worth of drugs was also placed in amnesty bins. According to the police reports, crime levels at this year’s Boomtown Fair Music Festival were down from last year.
The festival is attended by ten thousand people and the total number of reported crimes was at one hundred and eighty six this year. Last year, they had three hundred and thirty seven crimes, so the new stats are a positive sign. The number of thefts from tents was at twenty one compared with more than one hundred of them last year at the Boomtown Fair Music Festival.
