ABBA’s new songs due out in Sept/Oct
ABBA’s new songs, “I Still Have Faith In You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down” are on their way.
Last year we reported that a “Virtual ABBA” experience was in the pipeline in collaboration with American Idol creator Simon Fuller, which would see the famed quartet virtually take to the stage after a 37-year hiatus.
The group announced they recorded two new songs, which will now be released in “September or October” after much delay.
On Wednesday Abba’s Bjorn Ulvaeus told Denmark’s Ekstra Bladettabloid (via the Associated Press) that “it takes an extremely long time” to make a video with the avatars of the group members, adding “it has been delayed for too long.”
It appears that there are other factors causing the delay…
Don’t shut this down
In January Benny Anderson, one of the “B’s” in ABBA, dished the delay scoop to IceTheSite, saying:
“When that press release [about the TV show and recordings] came out, everything was up and running smoothly, then it didn’t run as smoothly,” he said. “We are still trying to establish the agreement that needs to be done to be able to continue. We are good. It’s the other side, everything that has to be done, everything that has to be drawn. It’s delayed. It’s not our doing.”
In a separate interview, Anderson spoke of the group’s possibility of recording a third song:
“We may do another one when the show [launches],” he said. “And that’s gonna take another six – eight months. The reasons we did the new songs was to put them in the new show. Now when this show comes up these songs will be old because they [will have been released when the show launches]. So we said we need to do another one for the show.”
Although he hasn’t spoken to the other members about this plan yet, he thinks they will approve.
Watch out for ABBA’s new songs, set for release “September or October” 2019.
