1500 DJ’s sign #PlasticFreeParty pledge from Bye Bye Plastic
In signing the #PlasticFreeParty pledge, DJs vow to adopt “eco-friendly” riders.
Blond:ish and her Bye Bye Plastic band of eco-warriors have signed up 1500 DJs to their #PlasticFreeParty movement. Yes, 1500!
In doing so, these selectors pledge to adopt an “eco-friendly” rider to ban single-use plastic in the DJ booth, which may seem like a small step but it’s definitely a step in a vital and more sustainable direction.
The pledge has been signed by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Ben Klock, Cassy, Honey Dijon, Annie Mac and Pete Tong among others, which if you think of it should just be adopted by the whole world by now.
Why do grown ass individuals even need to drink through straws? Ever heard of a mouth? It does just the trick… In fact, it does an even better job of getting liquid from Point A to Point B than a cylindrical turtle-killer.

“We’re in an absolute pivotal moment in evolution, where change is in the air, and silence doesn’t bring change,’ Bakos told Resident Advisor.
“Change is fuelled by movements. Movements thrive on community, creativity, participation and idealism. The secret ingredient AKA superpower we have to add to this mix is music. It’s the absolute strongest glue, and the strongest human connector. We can’t forget that, so let’s use it endlessly for good.”
Earlier this month Massive Attack commissioned the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research to help create a blueprint for eco-friendly touring.
Seriously, I doubt people will stop going to clubs and festivals that don’t stock straws (plastic or not.) Just do it!
Let’s ALL join the #PlasticFreeParty pledge, that’s the real vibe.
