Leighton Moody talks house music ahead of Eden Experience
Leighton Moody is a stalwart of the Cape Town, and indeed South African house music scene, with a career that spans well over a decade.
His CV boasts gigs abroad, sharing the stage with some of the biggest house names to have played in South Africa (Kerri Chandler, Jimpster, Monique Bingham, Dennis Ferrer, Henrik Schwarz & Dixon to name a few) and is the co-founder of one of Cape Town’s best deep house events, ‘We House Sundays.’
Leighton’s unique mixing style sees him use three decks, samples and FX units to create spontaneous combustion on the dancefloor and he is a master at building tension and release.
This weekend Leighton Moody takes it outdoors with a set at Eden ft. KVSH (Bra), Ryan Murgatroyd & Kostakis Live & more which promises to be a classy affair at a venue that is both exclusive and intimate.

Leighton Moody: You can spend days and weeks digging for good tracks, and then when you finally get to play them out…boom, blue screens on the dance floor (Shazam), and they have some of your set in minutes. [laughs]
Leighton Moody: The only positive flipside, I think, is that it introduces people to the actual artists and producers… just, as long as people go and actually buy the music and support the artist instead of free downloads. 😉
If I knew then what I know now, one thing I may have done differently with my music career is…
Leighton Moody: As an artist, manage yourself like a business.
Businesses and brands take time to develop. The same applies for learning new DJ skills, new production techniques etc …keep learning, adapting and growing.
Invest in yourself and know that it all takes time. You are not in a race and art is not a competition.

Leighton Moody: The diverse people who attend and how their mutual love for the music creates such a unique energy under one roof. The crowd is very in tune with the music.
They are very open to all sounds of House and this allows DJs to express themselves freely.
