Learn new scales and chords with intuitive web app, Note Kitchen
Note Kitchen is a user-friendly web application designed to help you learn the basics of music theory – scales and chords.
Note Kitchen helps you identify which notes and chords work with which scales.
It’s laid out in such a way that anyone with access to a keyboard (or even a DAW) will be able to start learning. Simply type in the name of the scale and Note Kitchen will display all the usable notes on its funky keyboard interface.
The input also works for chords, from basic to more complex. It has a host of other very helpful features, from being able to transpose your selection up or down, to being able to layer chords over one another for really getting technical.
Simply type the word “Play” after your input and Note Kitchen will automatically begin playing through your selection, for quick reference. If you’re still a beginner, you are able to display the note names on the keyboard interface by simply using the command “show letters” and hitting enter, this is easily reversed with the command “hide letters”.
This is only the beginning…
According to the developer, Note Kitchen is an ongoing project with a whole host of new features being implemented all the time. One to look forward to is being able to enter your root notes by clicking on the keyboard interface.
All-in-all is a great platform for beginners to seasoned professionals, it’s great for learning the basics but also building on your existing knowledge to help push you to new heights. It will help you familiarize yourself with scales that you are not very well versed in, or maybe even discover something completely new!
