Yamaha Montage unveils the 2.5 update with a host of new features
As of July 2018, owners of the Yamaha Montage flagship synthesizer, have access to the latest firmware and OS update.
The latest update expands the Yamaha Montage’s already massive library of sounds and preset performances. Yamaha have also re-introduced a large variety of performances from their award-winning MOTIF series, bringing the total number of preset performances up to 2655. The new update also sees the introduction of an advanced DAW control mode, allowing you in-depth control over your favourite DAW, from the transport to mixer control, to editing plugins all directly from your Yamaha Montage keyboard.
Yamaha have also revamped the arpeggiator section with the latest update, you now have the ability to send individual arpeggiated notes to various external or mod destinations unlike in the previous operating system, where only the actual held-down chord would be captured. Yamaha Montage OS v2.5 sees the introduction of a new waveform management tool, allowing you to load samples directly onto keys via the external audio input menu. The new tools include a “waveform center” which automatically aligns the sample with the key your holding down, so that it’s sounding at the correct pitch.
Will we see further developments in the future from Yamaha?
Nate Tschetter – The marketing manager at Yamaha Synthesizers had this to say about the latest update, “MONTAGE is an incredibly deep, powerful and versatile synthesizer. OS v2.5 adds DAW Remote for tighter integration with music-making systems, Yamaha continues MONTAGE OS development to help music-makers get the most out of their instrument.”
So it’s safe to deduce that there are more exciting features on the way, the Yamaha Montage is already a powerhouse of a synthesizer, although further developments and introductions of user-requests are always a good thing.
The new update is free to all Yamaha Montage users, for more information visit Yamaha’s website.
