Vochlea Music AI transforms your voice into a literal instrument
Vocally control music creation with Vochlea Music.
The British startup is currently in a seed round of funding 250 000 Pounds ahead of launching a Kickstarter campaign for its first product- VM1.
Using an artificial intelligence audio engine they created, VM (Vochlea Music) can transmit human vocals into real instruments, in real time, even live time.
You can hum your way to a bassline, beat box towards a drum beat and percussion, and even apply effects with the classic ‘wah-wah,’ all by vocalizing into a VM microphone- VM1.
CEO of the company, George Philip Wright revealed their plans at the Abbey Road Red Incubator’s demo event in London.
The Kickstarter campaign will allow fans to pre-order the smart MIDI microphone, inclusive of Vochlea’s audio engine (VM1)
Voila!
Features of the VM1 include:
-Trigger live drum samples through beatboxing
-Pitch and mimic instrument recognition
-Vocal effect control
-On-board samples and software instruments
-App to change on-board samples and instruments
-Built-in speaker and audio jack output
-MIDI output for GarageBand / Ableton / Logic +more
In the future they plan to release a mobile app where they can embed the technology into the smartphone realm.
“If you’ve got an idea for audio, for music, the easiest way to express it is the one instrument we’ve all had since birth and are competent at using: our voice,” said Wright as he pitched Vochlea’s tech.
“What if you had a technology that could understand these vocalisations, but could create the equivalent instrumentation. And what if it could do it in real-time, live?”
Vochlea is currently doing the final tweaks on its microphone before offering it to the crowd.
“We need to do a bit more embedded-electronics design, but the software is ready to go, and the market is ready to buy it,” he said.
