VERSUS – The New DJ-Designed “Dream Controller”
The New DJ-Designed VERSUS “Dream Controller” has been dreamed up by Items & Things boss Magda and Berlin-based producer/tech maestro NYMA.
It was all announced this week, the new collaboration is all about ‘bridging the gap between live and DJ performance’, or simply solving the issue of Serato Face.
“I came to NYMA one day and said, ‘I would really love to build a dream controller [with] all the functions we really want. It sort of started a dialogue.” says Magda in the video.
Magda and NYMA then brought the idea to tech companies Faderfox and Glanzmann DDS, who helped them realize VERSUS into a working controller.
“I think one of my main problems using a computer when I perform is always having to go there and look at it, and then go back to the mixer when I’d really just prefer to focus on the crowd,” she says. “So we designed the controller to have that feel physically, so you don’t have to look at the laptop. You have all the functions right there in front of you, including the LED lights that show you when the track is ending.” Magda explains how the new controller will change the way she DJs.
This is what it says on the website:
“Each VERSUS unit is hand made in Switzerland and Germany by Faderfox and Glanzmann DDS. For these reasons, the cost of materials and production is high. This is a product done purely out of love and not for profit.”
