V-MODA 808 pays homage to Roland legend
Roland and V-MODA have teamed up to honour the legendary TR-808 Drum Machine with a pair of headphones – V-MODA 808
The new V-MODA 808 headphones are based on the company’s incredibly popular M-100s – renowned by DJs and producers the world over.
Almost 40 years since its original conception, the Roland TR-808 is still one of the most sought-after drum machines on earth. It’s well known for shaping the early electronic music sounds and is still a staple in genres like Trap and Hip-Hop.
For those who missed it, 8 August is celebrated as International 808 day. We saw the announcement of the Behringer RD-8, an analog remake of the classic TR-808, and now Roland and V-MODA have teamed up to pay homage to the legendary Drum Machine.
It’s safe to say, the spirit of the Roland TR-808 is still alive and well.
The new V-MODA 808 headphones are styled in the classic TR-808 colour scheme and offer the same high-end build quality and tech specs as V-MODA’s very popular M-100s headphones.
Well-renowned ground-shattering low-end…
The Roland TR-808 is well-known for its incredible versatility, being able to reproduce everything from ground-shattering low-end to crisp highs, and the V-MODA 808 headphones echo that.
They’re capable of reproducing frequencies from 5hz to 40kHz – beyond the audible spectrum. They’re also built to last, much like the TR-808.
The 808 headphones come with an exoskeleton carry case and various interchangeable cables to suit different environments.
The new 808 headphones are set to retail at USD $300 (Around R4600 excl. duties), and they will be available to ship on 9 September 2019 – International 909 Day.
Are they planning to announce 909 headphones on that day too? We will have to see…
