Uli Behringer launches a personal attack on tech gear journalist
Uli Behringer has just launched a rather bizarre and unfounded crusade against veteran journalist and synth enthusiast, Peter Kirn.
Uli Behringer has come under a lot of fire recently for various reasons, regardless of your stance on the whole cloning debacle – the most recent events are surely bizarre.
Peter Kirn is the founder of CDM magazine and co-founder of MeeBlip synthesizers, aside from his rather successful production and DJ career, it’s safe to say that Peter has an obvious passion for everything music-related.
Uli Behringer’s most recent tirade is an outright attack on Peter Kirn, who had previously brought Behringer and Music Tribe’s legal practices into question. The attack came in the form of a YouTube video and Facebook post, displaying a fictitious product aimed to undermine Peter Kirn’s credibility as journalist and artist.
The fictitious product was the “KIRN CorkSniffer”, which was laden with bad-taste imagery and wording.
Some commenters are drawing similarities between the imagery and “vintage 70s casually racist comedy”, regardless of Uli’s true intention – this is not only cyberbullying, but it’s a dangerous place for an industry to not allow comments from those who are not invested in the product.
A slippery slope…
A while back Behringer launched their own YouTube platform, unboxing and reviewing their own products – this was strange in itself but outlines the beginning of the unravelling process.
Since then, the company has launched a series of attacks at anyone who criticize their products, ethics or practices.
Shortly after the “KIRN CorkSniffer” hit the internet – all recollection of it was quickly erased, and replaced with an underhanded apology from Uli.
He stated that he and Peter Kirn have known each other for 20 years and didn’t mean to offend him, it was a mistake made by his marketing department and alleged that he had only seen the video after the fact, very interesting considering this was the third attack on Peter’s credibility made by Behringer.
One even bearing the phrase “Be creative folks” – as if the Behringer company is the pinnacle of creativity in the music industry.
Hey @Behringer did you really think we were all going to find this hilarious? 🙄 and now you’ve deleted it! 🤣 don’t worry I have a copy if you lost the original 👍 pic.twitter.com/VWktz6vVrL
