Third-party Traktor S4 MK3 mod adds moving waveforms
Native Instruments Traktor S4 MK3 gets an overhaul with a third-party mod, adding moving waveforms and other exciting features.
One of the big features in the latest iteration of the Native Instruments Traktor S4 MK3 is the OLED screens with vast user feedback, however since its release there have been requests for a few additions yet to be added in the official version.
One of the biggest requests is moving waveforms on the displays.
While this is more of a cosmetic feature, there are far more useful feature requests, such as phase meter display, BPM/Tempo/Key display and flashing end-track warnings.
Along comes third-party developer, Joe Easton, who has been fine-tuning his S4 MK3 mod since just after the initial release – February 2019.
The mod has evolved exponentially in that time, adding a ton of both helpful and cosmetic features from in-depth track information display to jog wheel LED colour and animation configuration, and even the ability to change the colour of your Mixer FX buttons.
Who developed the mod?
“I have been developing a screen mod for the Traktor S4 MK3, this mod has been recognised by Native Instruments as one of the best screen hacks of all time. This will only get better with time as I will be adding many new features in the future,” says Easton.
Hopefully Native Instruments will recognise the usefulness of the mod and get Joe onboard for future official Traktor S4 MK3 updates!
Here are some of the Key Features:
- phase meter display
- moving waveforms with colours (like the old spectrum display)
- BPM/Tempo/Key displays
- Browser view mode
- flashing end-of-track warnings on the jog wheel LEDs and screen
- Editable jog wheel LED colours
- Beats box (beats to cue, beat counter, etc)
The developer has released the mod through his Patreon page. To grab it, check out the page here.
