IK Multimedia announces the T-RackS Tape Machine Collection, a bundle of four pieces of recording, mixing and mastering history.

Most of the greatest hits in music history were recorded onto tape, in the 1960s it was the latest technology – however as technology progressed a large amount of engineers held onto their tape machines due to the characteristics that tape recording imparted onto the source material.

The sound of tape is still highly sought after, however owning a tape machine is an incredibly costly affair. Tape Machines require lots of maintenance and calibration, not to mention the actual tape itself costs an arm and a leg compared to digital storage space.

The new IK Multimedia T-RackS Tape Machine Collection is the solution for those who are looking for the sound of those sought-after, prestigious tape machines, but don’t have the budget or space in the studio.

The collection is a bundle of four iconic tape machines that span the history of music recording, mixing and mastering. Each of the machines in the new T-RackS Tape Machine Collection has been carefully modelled to replicate the personality of each of the iconic tape machines.

What’s in the bundle?

The new IK Multimedia T-Rack Tape Machine Collection comes in a bundle of four plugins, however you can purchase them individually. The bundle consists of the following:

• Tape Machine 440 – based on the Ampex 440B
• Tape Machine 80 – based on the Studer A80
• Tape Machine 24 – based on the MCI JH24
• Tape Machine 99 – based on Revox PR99-MK2

Each of the plugins in the collection features four unique tape styles to choose from based on popular brands such as Quantegy, Ampex and 3M.

The plugins also employ two unique features they call “Transport Modelling” and “True Stereo Imaging” which impart slight inaccuracies to the signal to replicate the true effects of tape, you can bypass this for a slightly cleaner sound if need be.
