SoundSwitch links DMX lighting to Serato DJ
SoundSwitch is a software and hardware solution that will sync your DMX lighting to Serato DJ.
SoundSwitch was developed by a New Zealand company called Onesixone Ltd and it is indeed the first of its kind.
DJs will be able to seamlessly integrate a DMX lighting show with their DJ sets. How it works is that the lighting cues/effects get attached to an audio file so that when that specific track plays, a customized lighting display routine will happen automatically.
This is particularly awesome for mobile DJs, corporate DJs, wedding DJs and of course companies that supply full solutions for weddings etc.
Preparation
Nowadays more than ever preparation of playlists in the digital realm is imperative to DJing.
Having your music sorted into crates and separating styles or moods is key to being able to play a wide variety of songs, particularly if you’re a function DJ.
With SoundSwitch you can take that preparation a step further by ensuring a killer DMX light show accompanies your biggest tracks. The best thing about it is that once you’ve associated a lighting routine with a specific track, that pattern will remain stored until you change it. So, much like when you drop tracks you know really well and tend to anticipate the crowd response to, you’ll now know exactly what the lighting will do at that point and can create extra tension, anticipation or euphoria.
Key Information
First you code lighting commands to the SoundSwitch app on your laptop and these get stored in the song file.
Then your SoundSwitch interface box connects your Serato DJ laptop via USB to industry standard DMX lighting and the software sends the commands to the lights.
The BETA version can be purchased now; it includes the software and a small hardware interface.
It will cost you $499 (approx R 7K)
