SoundForce SFC-Mini V2 – a boutique Minimoog lookalike controller
Dutch synth manufacturer SoundForce has just announced a new boutique MIDI controller, specifically for controlling Moog hardware and software called the SFC-Mini V2.
The SoundForce SFC-Mini V2 features a layout akin to the Minimoog Model-D Synthesizer, a very sought after analog synth. It’s a great option for producers who can’t afford the real thing and want to add a unique look and authentic feel to their plugin emulations. It would also make a great companion to an original Minimoog, in the case where you don’t want to subject your collector’s item to wear-and-tear while you’re using it.
SoundForce first made their name making modular synthesizer modules, specifically replicas of sought after sounds like the 808 Kick and 808 Snare standalone modules. They also offer DIY kits for their products, this puts two questions in my mind – Are they looking to create a unique boutique-styled Minimoog replica? and will they release DIY kits for this?
Only two units were made in the first run, for beta testing purposes – but judging by popularity I’m pretty sure the next run is on its way!
Are you after boutique or features?
If you’re an avid user of Arturia or Synapse Audio’s Minimoog Model-D software plugins, you may want to investigate getting yourself some more hands-on control. And what better way than with a unique boutique controller like the SFX-Mini V2.
SoundForce is a one-man operation, Nicolas Toussaint designs and hand-builds everything – a sort-of homage to the style of the original creator of the Minimoog Model-D, Bob Moog. While the Behringer Model-D replica is set to sell for only a fraction more than the SFC-Mini V2, it lacks that element of boutique rarity that the hand-built SFC-Mini V2 possesses.
I really like the laser-cut wooden finish, hopefully we see some more “popular” synthesizer manufacturers taking notes here.
