Soundation to become the world’s premiere cloud-based DAW?
Soundation is set to expand their unique browser-based casual music making platform, after huge fundraising success to the sum of $500,000.
The year 2009 saw the initial release of Sweden-based online music platform, Soundation, which quickly gained a large user-based, 75,000 active monthly users on average. The platform shares very similar aesthetics and features to arguably the most popular “casual” music making software, Garageband.
Soundation’s aim is to democratize music creation by offering their idea of the best service available to anyone who wants to make music online. There are already various similar services available on the web, but the unique drawcard for Soundation is its simplicity – it’s designed for casual musicians. The ones who don’t want to fork out thousands for a professional DAW, when they’ll only use a small fraction of the features.
The casual music creator industry is blowing up, analysts estimate global market growth from $900 million in 2017 to $1.45 billion by 2021, no wonder there has been a massive push towards catering for these end-users.

A truly commendable and ambitious goal, however with the new changes on the table I’m sure it’s one they can achieve. One of the big changes we’re seeing is the appointment of Swedish tech entrepreneur, Adam Hasslert, as the CEO of Soundation. His first tasks as part of the team is to use their new injection of funding to recruit a strong team and solidify the brand in the market.
