Serato is stepping into the music production game with their latest software offering, Serato Studio. It’s a new platform aimed at getting more DJs into creating their own unique tracks, while also offering a nifty “sketch pad” for the more advanced producers who may be looking for a simpler DAW to get quick ideas out.
Serato Studio introduces a variety of features that would be familiar to DJs, especially those coming from the Serato DJ platform. The channel mixers, filters and effects are derived from Serato DJ however they’ve also incorporated VST and AU support, so you can load up any third-party instruments and effects plugins to expand your library.
The new Studio platform has key and tempo detection for samples, and it automatically syncs up with your Serato DJ library to import tracks and sound effects to sample from. The DAW also has a built-in 808-style sequencer and comes bundled with a variety of drum kits, making it a great first-step for newcomer music producers.
Serato Studio is already a full-fledged DAW, but you can have your say…
It already has a lot of key features that you would expect to see in a DAW, from third-party VST and AU support to external MIDI controller capabilities, however it’s currently in public beta, so if you have some ideas on how to grow the new DAW platform – get involved.
