For any aspiring music producer, gaining production know-how from those who have made a success of the craft is priceless, though mostly comes at an expensive cost.
A lot of producers offer classes, and understandably it’s not a free endeavour. (Producers gotta eat, ya know.)
They are passing on the knowledge that they have acquired over years of hard work, and for those starting out, this information is invaluable and the recipe for success can dramatically push start your career.
Now, one of South Africa’s most successful house producers, Ryan Murgatroyd, is about to let people into his musical mind, for free.
Recipe for success
In a Facebook post, the talented producer announced his plan to present a “live, totally free online workshop.”
His reasoning behind this is that he gets “so many messages from people who are either too far away, too busy or too broke to attend my workshops and I understand the struggle is real.”
So he asks those who are interested to join his live feed on Instagram on Monday, 12 March and ask him “anything you want.”
He will take you through techniques like chord progression, synthesis, live performance and anything in between.
He adds that “the technical wizards from Mixroom Studios will be on hand if u want to ask anything about mixing and mastering.”
At the end of the post he hits a somewhat emotional string by saying how “the session will be full of awesome people who all have a common goal – get better at making music – so it’s a great place to make friends.”
This is a great initiative for those who are passionate about making music but need that kick, which is a great thing about living in SA- our producers are eager to share and help.
