Roland acquires headphone brand V-Moda
V-Moda is a high-end headphone brand and they have been acquired by Roland, famous for creating the legendary 808 machine among many other awesome instruments. The announcement was made on ‘808 day,’ the 8th of August.
The merger of the two companies became a reality after Roland representatives tested variations of headphones for their new drum machine TR-8. What they settled on was the V-Moda Crossfade M-100’s, which proved to be of the highest of quality and best to be paired with the Roland equipment. Roland was sold on the technical prowess of V-Moda.
Roland now has a seventy percent stake in the headphone brand, while the original owners maintain thirty percent. They have managed to remain an independent family owned business for the past twelve years.

The two companies will also continue to function separately under their brands, and Kolton will carry on being the CEO at V-Moda. He will also now get to be a consultant to Roland in the electronic, dance and DJ product division.
The headphone brand moves forward onto what appears to be a prosperous future with the investment of Roland. The brand already enjoys a respectable reputation within the realms of the DJ/producer world. The partnering with Roland promises even more success for them in the years to come.
