Reloop Touch Virtual DJ 8 controller with touchscreen
Reloop Touch is a brand new 4-channel DJ controller announced by the German DJ tech company and it is designed to work seamlessly with Virtual DJ 8.
The notable feature on the Reloop Touch is the sizeable 7-inch onboard touchscreen and the layout, whilst obviously fairly standard, is ergonomically a little different with the jogwheels at the top of the unit, as opposed to the bottom which is the more regular placement.
There are also 8 performance pads for each deck and 3-band EQ, filter per channel and four faders per side dedicated to FX.
The jogwheels are not that big, it must be said; is this Reloop recognising the fact that pads and FX are becoming more important performance tools that platters?
In fact the Touch looks like a hybrid mix of the Native Instruments Kontrol S8 (faders and pads) and the Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX2 (screen), although there is no USB-enabled capability like the aforementioned Pioneer or the Denon DJ MCX8000.
The touchscreen
The 7-inch touchscreen can display all 4 virtual decks from Virtual DJ onscreen which is great because this simulates a CDJ type experience thus negating the need to look at the laptop screen.
The touchscreen on the Reloop Touch is automatically integrated with Virtual DJ 8 so this means that a predetermined layout will work seamlessly. Aside from the 4-deck displays, when mixing visuals – an awesome feature on the Virtual DJ 8, the video can also display on the screen.
One can also control FX, manage playlists using their novel drag and drop feature and, of course, library browsing. The Touch is MIDI enabled so one can map it to other DJ apps too.
The touchscreen can display video for when you’re mixing visuals or video clips. It can also be used for controlling effects, browsing through your library, and even managing playlists via drag and drop gestures. While it’s meant to work plug and play with Virtual DJ 8, it’s also compatible with other DJ software via Midi.
Virtual DJ 8 may not be as favoured as Traktor or Serato but it is a highly underrated DJ app and this new integration with Reloop Touch definitely proves that is as professional a DJ package as any.
We can’t wait to test out the Reloop Touch.
