The Reloop Mixtour looks like an interesting addition to one of the most underrated DJ tech brands, especially in South Africa.

In Europe and in the USA Reloop has a significant footprint in the market, admittedly not quite the size of Pioneer DJ, Numark or Native Instruments but they have their niche and it’s a solid share.\

Here in South Africa we haven’t seen too much of Reloop although the brand is readily available at all tech and gear retail stores.

The Reloop Mixtour looks a lot like a combination of the Traktor Kontrol X1 and Kontrol Z1 or the Akai AMX and AFX.

Mixer, controller, audio interface all-in-one

The Reloop Mixtour pretty much crams everything you need except for your iPad/tablet or laptop to DJ digitally.

The two channel mixer has 3-band EQ, dual purpose FX/Filter knob, channel sliders and a crossfader plus channel gain knobs and a master volume rotary.

The transport buttons look rather crammed into the middle top section and to some this may be a little off-putting but other than the loop buttons these should be okay.

One would naturally be using the sync button with the Reloop Mixtour so other than simply pressing play or cue, there’s not a lot more one would be doing with the transport buttons, except the loop feature which can be regarded as a performance feature.

There is a built in audio interface so as I said before – the Reloop Mixtour plus your laptop/tablet/iPad is all you need.

Reloop Mixtour Software

The Reloop Mixtour comes packaged with DJAY 2 from Algoriddim and this may deter some too. It’s actually a very cool DJ program with perhaps its only shortcoming being the actual aesthetics of the GUI. DJAY 2 does look very ‘hobbyist’ when compared to the likes of Traktor or Serato DJ. It is fully midi compatible so no doubt mapping for these and Virtual DJ will become available online.

But if you want to use your Reloop Mixtour with a tablet/iPad then DJAY 2 from Algoriddim is the obvious way to go.
