Reason Rack Extension Subscription gives access to all devices
The Reason Rack Extension Subscription is a novel new way to get access to Propellerhead’s vast array of instruments and effects for a nominal monthly fee.
It’s also a clever way to get Reason users opting for Rack extension devices rather than the newly added VST integration.
And why not?
Reason rack extensions are an exceptional collection of devices that work seamlessly and with rock solid stability within the DAW framework so why not have access to the entire collection!
WATCH: What’s new in Reason 10?
With the imminent release of Reason 10, the Reason Rack Extension Subscription means being able to re-fresh your device list each month and try out new instruments and effects all the time.
There is a catch though.
Once you select your devices for the month you have to stick to those for the next 30 days before you can change them.
The Reason Rack Extension Subscription also works on various fixed ceiling packages. So, for $9 (R 130) you can ‘rack up’ with $ 400 worth of extensions.
Spend $ 19 (R 275) and you get $ 1000 worth of rack extensions.
For $ 29 (R 400) you’ll have access to $ 3000 worth of devices to use as you wish.
One thing they don’t seem to address in their press release is what happens when you want to change a device but it’s being used in an existing song.
One assumes that this is where the different plans become relevant.
For example, if you start on the $9 plan but end up exhausting the $ 400 ceiling, you’d have to jump to the next plans if you want to use more extension devices over and above what you’re currently accessing.
