PreSonus Eris E3.5 monitors – big bang, small price
The PreSonus Eris range of monitors is renowned for award-winning design and affordability, the Eris E3.5 follows suit.
The PreSonus Eris E3.5 are designed for accuracy on a budget, so they’re perfect for DJ’s, gamers, video producers and even beginner audio producers.
One thing to keep in mind is that the Eris E3.5 feature 3.5” woofers, so they’re not going to blow you away with bass, although they offer an accurate, wide-frequency response making them a great first step into the production realm.
They also sound pleasant, and don’t suffer the harshness of some of the higher-end monitors which can often result in ear fatigue. A perfect choice for those long production sessions, or a second pair of monitors for referencing.
50 watts of power is supplied by the internal amplifier, plenty of sound for bedroom setups and small project studios.
The Eris E3.5 are perfect for videographers and editors, as they produce a clear representation of the audio, while being incredibly lightweight and affordable. They feature a Kevlar woofer and a grill-protected silk-dome tweeter, built to withstand the rigors of the road.
I usually suggest bi-amped monitors for higher-end audio applications…
Bi-amped (dual amplifier modules per speaker) studio monitors are much more likely to produce a higher fidelity sound due to the nature of the design, the problem is that it’s usually a costly operation. That makes the entry-point for bi-amped monitors rather high.
However, I would consider the PreSonus Eris E3.5 a great option to pave the way to your first pair of high-end monitors.
They’re not going to set you back a great deal, as they retail at USD$130 (around R1600 excl. duties) for the pair!
