Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID – The ultimate multitrack hardware sequencer
The Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID is a new multitrack hardware sequencer geared towards hardware live performances and studio production.
Designed to be the heartbeat of your hardware synth or drum machine setup, the new Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID features a host of intuitive features for live performance and studio production. The sequencer is capable of controlling up to 16 independent instruments like desktop and modular synths to drum machines and DAWs. The Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID has DIN MIDI In, Out and Thru (which doubles as a second MIDI out if needed), it’s got two CV and two Gate outputs for connecting to Eurorack modular systems, 3.5mm clock (for Korg and other similar systems) and 5-pin DIN SYNC (this is for older drum machines such as Roland TR-808). SQUID also has a USB port for easily connecting with a DAW or transferring your projects to-and-from your computer.
The Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID has an intuitive “3D” sequencer, which allows you to freely change the direction of the sequencer playhead – not only backwards and forwards, but a wide array of interesting modes. You can punch-in or record sequences or use the variety of randomize functions to create new inspiration on the spot.
Advanced sequencing capabilities alongside playability…
The Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID has trigger probability settings for creating ever evolving rhythms, there’s an intuitive looping section allowing you to grab small segments and loop them to create fills and variations, and furthermore you can use the “Time Warp” mode to capture those random inspirations.
Pioneer’s new hardware sequencer features an intuitive scale mode, with 23 scales to choose from. There’s a built-in Harmonizer, allowing you to quickly create a variety of chords based on the current scale. There’s also an arpeggiator capable of quickly creating a wide variety of different patterns on-the-fly. The Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID comes with librarian software, allowing you to drag and drop your projects to store on your computer, or load MIDI files into the SQUID.
The Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID is set to retail at USD $599 (around R9000 excl. duties). For more information check out the Pioneer website here.
