A short while after Pioneer launched its flagship behemoths, the CDJ-2000, CDJ-900 and DJM-2000, there’s a new party-starting set-up in the lower ranks of the Pioneer range that offers an impressive feature set, considering the price. As DJ setups go, this is compact, intuitive, flexible and is the cheapest CDJ option for use with Pioneer’s RekordBox music management software. Aimed at beginner and bedroom DJs, the CDJ-350 supports digital music files like MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF which are stored on USB mass storage device class products or CD-R/RW discs. To help organize your tracks, Pioneer included its Rekordbox music management software, so you can easily manage music files by IDM on your computer and quickly select which tracks to play. There’s a BEAT Display Function and Auto Beat Loop Function, and an almost too simple Auto IDM Lock feature that will match the tempos of songs by adjusting the speed to the Master IDM on each player. On to the Pioneer DJM-350 mixer. It’s equipped with four kinds of effects and an isolated 3-band equalizer for tweaking sounds. It has an easy to access, front USB port that allows you to record mixes onto USB storage devices in WAV format. Individually these are good products, but combine them and they make a perfect compact home DJ setup and if you add a decent flight case will stand up to duties at bars and clubs while staying future-proof with USB connectivity and the Pioneer RekordBox software.
