Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 – the ultimate professional DJ mixer?
Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 is a premium DJ mixer set to take on boutique options like Allen & Heath and Model 1.
At its core the Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 is a six-channel mixer with a focus on versatility, it’s pretty clear they’ve taken a page out of Allen & Heath’s book with this design, while still maintaining the industry-standard layout and build-quality that Pioneer DJ is known for.
The biggest additions in the new mixer are the redesigned four-band EQ, the redesigned filter section, various additions to the effects and more.
The new filters are rather different to how they work on the traditional DJM range, they’re selectable (between Low-Pass and High-Pass) and you have resonance control. They also use a bypass switch which makes filter transitions much easier!
Pioneer have decoupled the filter from the effects – allowing for more control over the routing, so you can have a filter on one channel and effects on another.
Pioneer’s “Beat FX” has been renamed “Built-in Effects” here, and they’ve added two send/return FX channels. The send/return effects run through the built-in effects, but as usual, on Pioneer mixers – there is an additional effects system which also sees some changes.
What is the coolest new feature?
Something really unique with the new Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 is that the channel selectors allow you to tap-in signal from the effects returns.
This offers some really cool routing capabilities like being able to truly mix your FX channels using filter and the built-in EQs – or create FX feedback for interesting results.
Each of the channels features a built-in compressor, there’s a dual headphone output with individual controls and each of the line channels can be tapped to either of the headphone outputs. It features dual USB ports for two simultaneous laptop connections and just about all the hardware ins and outs you would expect on a professional Pioneer DJ mixer.
I’ll go as far as to say this is the most versatile Pioneer DJ mixer ever, hopefully, this is the beginning of a new series (The “V” in the name does hint to that) aimed more at producers and live performers.
The Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, it’s set to retail at EUR €3299 (Over R50k excl. duties).
