Pioneer DJ announce new DDJ-XP1controller & rekordbox 5.0
Pioneer DJ continue to surprise us with new gear, the latest being the DDJ-XP1 DJ controller which they say is designed specifically to take advantage of rekordbox 5.0’s new features.
The DDJ-XP1 has 32 multicoloured Performance Pads and has been designed to bring a whole new sphere of creative possibilities to a DJ performances, whether you use multiplayers or DVS via turntables to control your digital music.
You can create your own customised interface to control Hot Cues, Pad FX, Beat Jump, Sampler, Beat Loop and the new Key Shift and Keyboard modes.
If you buy the DDJ-XP1 you get rekordbox dj and rekordbox dvs included which is worth €248 (R 4,000) which makes this pretty cool for turntablists, seemingly their main target market for this new controller. But if you’re into jamming mutiple DJ decks via software then this could open up some radical new possiblities.

rekordbox 5.0
Along with their new DJ controller Pioneer DJ has also announced rekordbox 5.0.
The new version, they say, is their most stable version yet and sports their next-generation KORETECH engine which uses less CPU and is more efficient.
Aside from an updated GUI to make things as intuitive as possible, rekordbox 5.0 also has faster track loading and scrolling and improved track anaylsis algorithms.
They’ve also jazzed up their export features to include easy backing up and restoring of one’s music library using only a USB/SD device.
