Pharrell’s Tuniversity aims to teach kids music on iPads
Pharrell’s Tuniversity aims to bring happiness to music education.
Inspirational producer Pharrell Williams has co-founded a music education company that aims to reinvigorate music education for children using iPads.
The eBook uses audio, video and interactive elements to break down the 2013 hit “Happy.”
Tuniversity will help them reverse engineer songs in GarageBand which will aid their own compositions.
In the promotional video Pharrell says, “When you know a song you’re kinda halfway there, so literally we can take it apart piece by piece, give you the patterns that you know, the chords, the bass line, the drums — because you already know the song.”
In this world where technology and iPads rule kids’ lives, Tuniversity wishes to inspire learning through music.
Education makes you happy
Eventually Tuniversity will expand to educational tools that will teach maths, English and science using pop music.
Learning through song is a powerful way to remember material.
It takes a short amount of time to remember lyrics when the music is catchy, so to marry the two is a genius way to learn.
If kids can learn how to compose and produce music in a fun and easy way at a young age they will be set.
We need to nurture the art of music-making so that we can experience a future of happiness through song.
