Numark Dashboard – Standalone Screen display for Serato DJ
The Numark Dashboard is a clever new concept from the American tech giant.
What they’ve done is taken the set of screens from the new Numark NS7III and created a standalone unit with these.
What’s the point you may ask?
Well here’s what’s great about these; the Numark Dashboard can be used with any DJ controller as long as you’re using Serato DJ. You see the Numark Dashboard screens are pretty much a set of remote screens which you can place at the head of your controller and thus not stare at your laptop on the side.
Things you can do with the Numark Dashboard
The Numark Dashboard provides waveforms and library browsing including being able to sort and save playlists etc. The objective is to be able to have this right in front of you just like one has on CDJ media players.
What you get are two separate track deck displays with the middle section being for library browsing etc.
It was actually designed as an accessory for Numark NS7II users who weren’t ready to upgrade to the new version three NS7, but they’ve now had the bright idea to make it available to any Serato DJ user.
Another smart move is that the Numark Dashboard has a USB hub so you won’t be taking up any of the only two USB ports on your laptop (if you’re on MAC) but it’s also more convenient to not have to run too many cables across the DJ deck, I guess. The hub has two powered USB ports so you could basically plug this into the laptop and then any controller and/or sound card can come straight out the back of the Numark Dashboard. In an ideal world this would be installed permanently in a club and each DJ could just plug in when he/she’s ready.
One final nice touch is the rotating base stand so that one can adjust it to suit the type of elevation you need.
The Numark Dashboard will retail for $ 299 – SA rand estimate – R 6,500
