Muzik Convertible – headphones that tweet the music you’re listening to
Muzik Convertible headphones will tweet the music you are listening to while you are wearing them. It’s a common inclination to share music that you’re into or listening to on social media.
If you are cool and pretentious you may not want all of your followers to know when you are listening to something corny and lame. Luckily the sharing on Facebook and Twitter is optional with the touch of a button.
Twitter has made a financial investment into Muzik, an American tech start up to release what is being called ‘social headphones’. Just picture a timeline full of your friends’ playlists.
These Muzik Convertible headphones are the first of its kind and even though it comes off as a little gimmick-y, it may be a new way to help the already social media obsessed share even more.
The wireless over-ear model, dubbed the Muzik Convertible, has four controls on the right ear cup that are programmable through Muzik’s app for iOS and Android. The controls of the Muzik Convertivle headphones fulfil basic functions such as changing volume and skipping tracks. The interactive qualities of the Muzik Convertible headphones includes audio-recognition software (like Shazam) that will identify song and artist, state the time, or dial a phone contact.
The most exciting part of the Muzik Convertible headphones is the social media function. And Muzik is doing some heavy promotion of this feature.
Other than sharing the songs you’re listening to with your followers, the headphones will allow you to share a “Twitter Moment”—a feature that creates a visual mock-up of what’s happening based on location data from Google Maps, a time stamp, weather information, and a whatever song is playing at the time.
The Muzik Convertible headphones are expected to roll out in May this year and retail at around $300.
