Smartphones aren’t huge fans of sweaty fingers and simply become unresponsive, often leading to a hop, skip or a trip.
The influx of voice activation is seeing the technology being used for things like cars to more arbitrary uses like light bulbs, but using it for music really makes sense.
At the CES gadget show in Las Vegas, Speak Music unveiled ‘Melody,’ an app that acts as an assistant on a musical level.
Melody allows you to request songs, radio stations, albums, and more- with your voice.

Later in the show, quick on the draw Monster announced plans to build the software directly into its headphones to bring you the MonsterTalk family of voice controlled headphones.
“You’ve got platforms like Alexa or Google that do everything from turn on the lights to whatever. Music’s a side note. But in terms of use case it’s really important,” explained James Peterson, product area manager with Monster.
Why worry about functions like your dishwasher or lights when you can have control of music?
The app has a deep integration with an assortment of music services like Spotify, NPR, iTunes and soon Tidal, and more.
Instead of solely focussing on iTunes if you have an Apple phone (Siri) or Google Play if you have an Android phone, Melody stretches its reach to an array of musical dimensions.
You can download the app from iTunes music store and the Google Play store.
Melody-enabled MonsterTalk voice activated headphones will officially make their debut at the Made in America Music Festival September 2-3.
