ModulAir is a polyphonic modular softsynth available in free beta
ModulAir is currently available for FREE as a beta version…
Software developers, Full Bucket Music, announced the upcoming release of their modular softsynth environment which boasts some interesting features.
At its core, the ModulAir system is built around a completely modular architecture, allowing you to choose up to 18 unique modules per patch, with 31 module type to choose from – from wavetable to traditional oscillators to interesting effects and modulations and sequencers.
All of the parameters within ModulAir are MIDI controllable, and something that truly sets it apart from the competition – is a full 64 voices of polyphony. The software supports the import of micro-tuning files, in TUN and SCL format, for those who like to use 432hz or eastern tunings.
ModulAir is coded in native C++, meaning it’s stable on both Windows and Mac OSX. It’s bundled with both a 32bit and 64bit VST or AU plugins. The current release is only version 0.7, and the developers aim to add new modules in the future, I’m excited to see where this project goes – it’s still pretty basic but the potential capabilities are amazing!
It’s currently available for FREE as a beta version…
The developers have released a public beta version of the software, allowing us insight into the softsynth for the first time, however they did mention this on their website – “ModulAir is a work in progress, unfinished, buggy, as of now with only a few quirky presets. Expect horrible things to happen. It is a clumsy unhandy complicated piece of software. “
That sounded pretty intriguing to me, so I gave it a download, if you’re also interested – head over to Full Bucket Music’s website for more details and the download link.
ModulAir is currently free like I mentioned, however if you feel like donating to the project, you can also do so on the developer’s website.
