Miclop Ctrl-X removes the hassles of MIDI control!
At first glance the Miclop Ctrl-X may not seem like a ground-breaking idea, but it’s all down to fluid workflow.
It’s widely evident that software plugins are becoming increasingly advanced, with page after page of settings and parameters. To the point where it can be a daunting process creating a fluid workflow with newly acquired plugins.
The Miclop Ctrl-X aims to change that, by creating a common interface to control all of your plugins.
Miclop Ctrl-X comes pre-loaded with templates for some of the industry’s leading software plugins – uHe Diva, Reveal Sound Spire, Native Instruments Massive and xFer Serum amongst a variety of others. It also gives you the ability to create your own custom templates, using the including template editor software. The software allows you to name your parameters which then get displayed on the Miclop Ctrl-X’s screen, making moving between your MIDI controller and DAW effortless. You can also edit the premade templates to create your own unique performance mappings.
Tweak plugin parameters using the encoders or touch-screen, jump between different plugins and even cycle through presets using the browser encoder. The interface offers two layers to flip between, offering you extreme workflow improvements.
What’s under the hood?
The parameters are banked together into six thoughtfully arranged categories;
OSC – is all your oscillator controller, Filter, FX, ENV – your envelope parameters, MOD – modulations and EXT – all the extra controls that don’t fit into the other categories.
Miclop Ctrl-X has a built-in step sequencer, utilising the touch screen you’re able to sequence your plugins on the intuitive interface. The sequencer can be synced to your DAW’s clock or its own internal clock, and it allows for each step to trigger a different speed setting amongst other nifty parameters.
The Miclop Ctrl-X is currently still in the prototyping and crowdfunding stage, with their Kickstarter campaign set to kick-off soon. They will be offering a free plugin that integrates perfectly with the Miclop Ctrl-X to Kickstarter supporters, so definitely check that out!
