Use the MIDI Touchbar as a controller on the new Macbook Pro
The most Mini MIDI Plugin enables the MIDI Touchbar on the new Macbook Pro as a controller!
Adorable!
The world’s smallest MIDI controller is literally at the tips of your fingers. DAW inspiring, this MIDI controller will allow you to control parameters on programs such as Ableton Live, Cubase and Logic Pro X, as well as devices like Max and Pure Data.
All you have to do is go to the “Customise Touch Bar setting” in the menu and you customise your MIDI to your heart’s desire using the MIDI Plugin.
All masters need their tools, and this is like a pocket light sabre. As a producer, you spend a lot of time on the road/in the skies, playing festivals here there and everywhere. Your laptop is your compadre and companion.
Although CDM notes that the “preset controller assignments” limit some uses, it is still ideal for trying out new synth Plugins when that inspiration strikes. Besides, the MIDI Touchbar is still better than using your laptop keyboard.
Flackbook Pro?
The new Macbook Pro has received some flack since its launch due to high pricing as well as stepping away from traditional USB connections and garnering an inadequate battery life.
Some argue that the 10 hours of battery life go by a bit too quickly, if you know what I mean.
Apple loves to salmon against the stream of what’s normal, sometimes to their own detriment. However, no one can argue that they are an innovation station of the highest order.
Along with the MIDI Touchbar, a developer has created a polyphonic piano app to accompany the laptop’s new feature.
Love it or hate it, you can’t deny that Apple and Macs really bring sci-fi into reality. Silver, sleek and sexy that’s mini with a MIDI controller. How fun!
