M-Audio M-Track Hub and Audio interface
If you produce on a laptop and more specifically a Macbook Pro, the need for extra USB ports is almost always an issue. Sure you can use a USB hub but that’s extra gear to pack. This is why we like the M-Audio M-Track Hub. It’s a 24-bit audio interface, it is super portable and you get 3 USB ports to use.
Other cool features on the M-Track Hub include a really nice big volume knob, balanced ¼-inch TRS audio outputs and a separate headphone out jack with separate volume control.
What the M-Track Hub unfortunately does not have is any form of audio in so it’s 100% ideal for electronic music production, minus any vocal recording, but won’t really cut the mustard if you want to record audio from instruments. There’s also no volume LEDs which could have been a nice addition but considering the compactness of the M-Track Hub, it’s really okay.
The fact is if you need a decent, professional quality audio interface at a reasonable price, why not get one that offers you more USB connections. All new electronic music gear, be it MIDI keyboards, DJ controllers, PAD controllers and even gear like the Access Virus TI for example, use USB so an interface that also serves as a hub is a really good idea.
If you’re looking for an interface with recording features then the Roland Duo Capture is about the best value for money right now.
Who the M-Track Hub is aimed at
Bedroom producers and mobile laptop producers are the most likely candidates to use the M-Track Hub. For a bedroom producer on a budget, the recommended retail price of R1 599.00 makes it one of the more affordable units on the market.
For producer on the move, even professional ones who find themselves on the road a lot, this affordable solution is very compact for an audio interface and of course you get the extra USB ports for your controller etc.
