Loopcloud 5 – The next-generation cloud-based production system

Loopcloud 5 is here and there are some pretty big changes to the cloud-based sample browser from Loopmasters.

There are a few big differences between the new Loopcloud 5 and its predecessor, first and foremost is the move to a subscription model – which has its ups and downs. They still offer a free version, as before – however the “Weekly Free Inspiration Packs” are no more. Loopcloud 5 will have daily free sounds limited by the subscription package you sign up for, the free version is supposed to have 5 free loops/samples a day – but I couldn’t find that yet, maybe it’s still launching.

Some of the awesome features in the paid subscription are varying cloud storage for your own samples and Loopcloud content, access to exclusive sounds and access to the Loopcloud Plugin Suite.

One of the biggest new additions to Loopcloud 5 is the new FX section, now you have the ability to process samples directly within the Loopcloud browser and import the processed sound directly into your DAW. There are various effects to choose from and stack up, from delays and filters to reverbs and vinyl stop effects – you can even automate the effects in each clip.

Create entire grooves directly within Loopcloud 5…

Another huge feature is the multitrack capabilities, now you can layer up a variety of samples, chop and edit them, apply a variety of effects to each one – create an entire groove directly within the Loopcloud 5 app, then just drop it into your DAW when you’re ready. Sadly, this feature is limited to only two channels for free users, however paid subscription accounts have access to 8 channels of multitrack samples to play with.

Like I mentioned above, Loopcloud have a Plugin Suite, not to be confused with the new FX section they have added, the Plugin Suite is made up of several instruments designed to instantly give you results, made up of thoughtfully curated sounds from Loopmasters’ extensive library.
