Krotos Concept is a new plugin with audio input as modulation
Krotos Concept is a new plugin that makes use of audio inputs for a wide variety of interesting modulation capabilities.
Krotos Audio may be relatively unfamiliar to music creators as they have been supplying products designed mainly for the post-production and video game sound industries, so Krotos Concept is the first in their line-up aimed at musicians.
Concept is designed to be very straightforward and easy-to-use, there’s very minimal menu or tab diving to navigate the plugin, and arguably it’s most important feature takes centre stage.
Most of the building blocks in the plugin are made up of simple features, very basic wave shapes and filter types, however, the power comes in with the awesome modulation system.
In short, you have the ability to route external audio from your DAW into a modulation lane within Concept to modulate any of the parameters within the plugin.
The synth is designed around the traditional subtractive analog style, most of the functions are based around drag-and-drop capabilities – all of these features make it a great option for beginners.
Simplicity is the key…
Krotos Concept comes with various internal FX, including a convolution reverb which supports custom impulse import). I’d say the best part about this plugin is its simplicity, it may not be the most visually appealing plugin on the market, however, it does offer some very unique features.
The variation system is similar to what you would expect in a random button in a plugin, the unique thing here is that you can control exactly which parameters are being randomized and how much range those parameters have.
Krotos Concept comes with presets by Roni Size, Richard Devine and much more. It’s retailing for USD $99 (Around R1500), there is a free demo to try on their website.
